La Concha ~ The Blonde B

La Concha

I love going on new adventures. Especially when they are so close to home.

Marbella isn't all: sun, sea, beaches and party life. We have some "cultural" stuff too!
Marbella no es sólo: playa, sol, mar y fiestas. Tenemos algunas cosillas "culturales"!

Early on Saturday morning we all met at La Cañada-some of us little bit weary from karaoke antics the night before- sandwiches and water in toe and ready to climb La Concha!

Anyone who has been to Marbella (or Puerto Banus) has probably seen La Concha.
It's pretty hard to miss.

Do you know which one I mean now? Good. Now let me tell you how to get there.
Ya sabes cual digo? Bien. Ahora te voy a decir cómo llegar.

You take the road to Ojén (A-355) from La Cañada and follow signs to Refugio de Juanar. To get to La Concha, you first have to climb el Juanar and then make your way across. Just follow the signs!

Let's hope you don't get car-sick, because the road to get to the bottom is very windy and twisty. I also didn't realise we were going to be climbing two mountains today!

Only one way to go: La Concha, 2h 10min. Are you ready?
Sólo hay una dirrección: La Concha 2h 10min. Estás listo?
There was lots of hiking upwards
Había muchas cuestas
We received lots of encouragement from other hikers on their way down. They teased us saying we better hurry up because the beer pump at the top was getting warm! I almost believed them!
Eventually we climbed high enough to start appreciating the views

On both sides
A ambos lados
But this was only our mini break, the best was yet to come
Finally! We made it! I could not have been happier. After climbing through some pretty dodgy and scary rocky parts, we made it. Aaahhh relief. Do we get to eat now?
Por fin! Llegamos! Ahora a comer no?
Whilst I was munching away and gawking at the view, I heard something from below. Now I know you're not supposed to look down but it was too loud to ignore! This cheeky monkey was hanging down there on a ledge.
She was just chilling down there, without a care in the world
Ella tan tranquila ahi abajo, sin preocupación ninguna
Then another little daredevil decided to join her
Otra arriesgada decidió acompañarla
Meanwhile, I watched the crazy pair very safely from above on a very safe rock admiring the views from up here, safely.
You could see everything from up. The whole of Marbella, the entire rock of Gibraltar, Africa, my house....
But I hated feeling like I was missing out! I had to go down to see what it was all about
Boy was I missing out. The view from this ledge was sweet. I could have stayed there all day.
Until Maria decided to mess around on the rocks and scare us all half to death! She's a clumsy one that one. Gotta keep a leash on her!
These guys were looking over us though
De todos modos estos nos vigilaban
The bromance were suffering a bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) too...
And Jess was so high she could almost touch the airplanes
Antonio and Raúl provided the comedy during our adventure. I laughed so hard!
I feel like I'm on top of the world!
The peace and tranquility was perfect. What better place to do some yoga?
La tranquilidad y el silencio eran perfectors. Qué lugar mejor para hacer yoga?
Estoy tocando al cielo con las manos!
Maria is a pro
Maria es una pro
The view was just stunning and it was peaceful and quiet. We just couldn't get enough
El paisaje era deslumbrante, calmante y tranquilo. Nos encantaba
I was just so excited to have made it, I couldn't stop jumping for joy!
Did you take it yet?
Ya la tomaste?
Oh okay then
Ah vale

Thank you S for organising it all!
Gracias S por organizarlo!
Time to go. It's a long way down folks! Am I going to be aching in the morning...
Hora de irnos. Vaya bajada que nos queda! No veas si voy a tener agujetas mañana...

All in all it took us about 5 and a bit hours to get up and down and have our little picnic up the top. Pretty good going, I would say!
